John Deere Diagnostic Trouble Codes Overview

BCU Control Unit – The BCU is responsible for controlling the basic functions of the tractor and the rear hitch.The control unit receives and processes data and then makes this information available to other electronic control units. The following systems are also controlled:
• Acoustic alarm
• Speed-dependent engagement and disengagement of frontwheel drive (with frontwheel drive switch in AUTO position)
• Engagement of frontwheel drive when brakes are applied (with frontwheel drive switch in off position)
• Speed-dependent engagement and disengagement of differential lock
• Control of the rear PTO
• Control of the front PTO
• Speed-dependent turn signal deactivation
• Headland Management System (HMS)
• Alternator control
• Measurement of wheel speed
• Ground speed measurement
• Engine speed
• Signal socket
• Configuration of present worklights
• Control of draft link stabilizer
• Activates the vehicle CAN Bus and required control units in some cases
